With help from an enthusiastic physics teacher and a few kind future friends, I learned to sail a 420 quickly and improved by leaps and bounds from there. Eventually a new coach asked me to become an instructor, and I've been sharing the sport ever since.
I was a USA Sailing Level 1 certified instructor. I've sailed Optis, 420s, Lasers, Sunfish, Mercuries, JY 15s, J/70s, J/109s, and Alerions.
Community Boating · Boston
After moving to Boston I joined Community Boating, Inc., the country's oldest public sailing program, right on the Charles River. I often take friends out racing or pick up new sailors off the dock and help them build their skills.
Devon Yacht Club · Amagansett
After sailing at Breakwater, I was invited to instruct at Devon Yacht Club. I taught kids ages 8 and up, moving them from Optis into 420s and Lasers. I also trailered boats to regattas, drove the club's power boats, and learned how to run a regatta. It was a blast.

Breakwater Yacht Club · Sag Harbor
My first taste of Breakwater was a week-long summer program sailing JY 15s when I was young. I came back in high school and started on 420s. Then a local owner invited me to crew on his J/109, and soon friends and I were racing the club's J/70s. I also sailed the Ice Breaker regattas, where I learned to sail a Laser in very chilly conditions.
